My cool Matariki story

The Seven Stars of Matariki

One day there was a anxious man named Mitai. He had six brothers that loved adventures as much as they loved Mitai. One night Mitai and his six brothers were relaxing on a chair outside looking at the stars until Mitai saw Waiti, Waita, Waipuna Rangi, Tapuaenuku, Tuarangi, Ururangi, and Matariki. The brothers were so happy they danced the night away. Suddenly Ururangi fell from the sky with terrible fear. Mitai noticed that there was one star missing, so he ran straight to the garden, grabbed Ururangi and said, “are u alright?” then ururangi said “no”. The next morning Mitai woke up and Ururangi was gone. Mitai went searching everywhere and then Ururangi popped out and gave Mitai a fright. One week later Matariki came down and found Ururangi. Everyone was so happy but Mitai was too sad to say goodbye. His six brothers woke up and said “hi Ururangi what are you doing”? Ururangi said, “I fell from the sky but, Matariki here to save me”. So they all said goodbye to each other and then Mittai threw them back in the sky. The men lived happily ever after and each Maori New Year the stars still shine bright in the sky.

I enjoyed writing and planning my story. If I made it myself I would add more information. I found it hard writing some maori words. Have you ever seen the matariki stars?

My amazing hydroponic method

WALT: We are learning how to make a hydroponic system.

Step 1. You will need a drill, a plastic bottle, seeds, nutrient water, cotton wool, a net cup and sphagnum moss.

Step 2. Now grab your plastic bottle, and drill a medium sized circle into the top.

Step 3. Now put your cotton wool around the top of the bottle.

Step 4. Next grab your net cup and put it where you drilled the hole.

Step 5. Now put your seeds into your net cup and then fill it with sphagnum moss.

Step 6. Fill the bottle with nutrient water and put a little bit of nutrient water into your net cup.

Step 7. Now wait a few days or weeks.

Step 8. That’s how you make a hydroponic system. Good luck.

I enjoyed making it because we got to use a craft knife. If I would make my own hydroponic system I would use a drill so I could cut it easier. It was so hard to cut the bottle with a craft knife.
